Default Chrome fuel caps

Hi,

I have a new (57-plate) Mini Cooper which I love.

I'm not sure which R5x variant it is as I haven't worked that out (to be truthful, I refuse to recognise that naming convention ever since Emily told me it was a Rover hang-over )

Anyway, some Minis have a very cool retro looking chrome fuel cap. I have a much less impressive body-coloured fuel flap.

What's the story? Was the chrome cap phased out with the new-new-Mini?

Cheers,
Snips

Hi Snips,

Yours is an R56. The chrome fuel cap is only fitted to Cooper S models - but you can buy the part seperately and fit it yourself!

Thanks Nik.

If I'd known that was an 'S' differentiator, I might just have been swayed

btw, my car isn't, never has been, and never will be, a Rover, ok?

You'll be thankful to hear that the R56 was entirely developed by BMW - the previous shape was mainly from Rover!

Indeed.

The 'R' word (and associations) should be banished to history

Mind you, a Mini Vanden Plas would be nice... << that statement was firmly in the joke category
