Default Bluetooth question

Hope someone can help - my 08 Cooper has the buttons on the steering wheel for Bluetooth, but what I don't understand is how to set it up. There's nothing in the manual, and no additional guide in the pack in the glove box.

My previous cars have all had bluetooth and have always had a guide on how to set it up.

Flicking through the menus I can't see where I would do the initial set up either.

Is it possible my steering wheel has the buttons but my car doesn't actually have Bluetooth?

I'm very confused, so any help is appreciated!

Very possible, the steering wheel controls come with the telephone buttons whether you have bluetooth or not.

If you have bluetooth installed, you will also have a USB socket tucked under the radio right at the bottom behind your gear stick - Basic Bluetooth and USB are part of the same package

I have the USB socket but no option through the menus to select "phone" so I guess I don't have 'tooth

One other option is to have a word with a MINI dealership as they should be able to tell you the spec of your car from the vehicle VIN number, they use this to get the spec of the car if you're trading it in.

From what I can remember from my last MINI it was referred to as BT in the radio menu, rather than phone.
