Default R56 Diesel

Hello

Ok im a complete newbie here so apologies if any of this has been asked before.

I have just acquired a New shape diesel i know not the quickest but its my entry into the mini adventure.

Its a cooper diesel in chilli red with chilli pack with black roof , darkened rear glass,17" alloys

Im not going to mod it seriously but want to do a few things:

Engine:
Id like to get a little more than the standard 110BHP without changing exhaust pipes etc is their any after market plug on chips that the dealer wont go "void warranty" etc and obviously dont want to speand a fortune

Exterior:

Probably get rid of the front chrome grille for a all black one whats available? and is it possible to change the front headlamp orange indicators? already got white side repeaters

Interior

Its piano black with additional decor rings and leather seats so only thing i really want inside is a centre armrest is that a dealer only fixing?

sorry for all the questions?

Any other recommendations websites etc ?

regards

Welcome KJT2004
Doopers are great cars as for the extra power im sure that 'Lohen.co.uk' do a chip and few upgrades as they have a Dooper clubman that is a bit warmed up...or speak to the guys at '1320'

Headlamps...not too sure about the 'Fried egg' look best to have a look around the likes of minitorque.com im sure you had the option of ordering the lights with clear indicators from factory.

MINI do a aero kit from Factory that has a black grille ..
centre arm rest you may find a damaged car in the breakers with one on! theyre pretty easy to fit if you have all the brackets etc try 'minimatt.co.uk' or even e bay as many breakers advertise on there too

Welcome to the forum. I don't know too much about the R56 but I know a few of the guys on here have managed to get rid of the fried egg look. Good luck with your modding quest!

Remaps are possible. Have a look at Performance Torque. Ayde Bury on here has used them.

Front grills are fairly easy to change. New grills can be purchased from dealers... (If you become a full member, you'll get 10% off of some parts)

It's possible to fit the armrest yourself. Depends how happy you are with tools etc.

Are the lenses in the headlights orange, or do you have clear lenses with orange bulbs behind?

Thank you everyone for the quick replies

Looks like im gonna enjoy my mini adventure

Ok as for chip is this anygood?

Mini Cooper D Diesel Tuning Box Chip on eBay (end time 23-Apr-10 22:23:40 BST)

I not bad with tools and dont mind stripping things apart so i will look out for a centre armrest as definitely want one and the grill will be easy enough to swap

As for the headlights im guessing if its just the Orange bulb behind the indicator its a straight swap however mines the lamp lense itself

regards

The tuning box that you've posted from eBay is very similar to what I used on my One D (also my first MINI). It was very good, and did give the car a bit more of a kick, but, it did smoke a bit when putting your foot down. Unfortunately I wasn't in a MINI club at te time so can't give you any figures from a rolling road.

Performance Torque is my current remap on the Cooper S, the team are very good, but your going to be paying more that your eBay plug and go box - which I think increases the pressure somewhere on the system to get more fuel and air into the engine.

Once advantage to this little box is it's in and out of the car in about 5 minutes for servicing and warranty work
