Default mini cooper d cracked engine block

now then, has anyone else had experience or heard of this? we're having ours fixed under warranty at the moment, they're replacing block, not engine. not really happy about them stripping motor down, may cause all sorts of other problems later, couldn't it?

If it's all done under warranty you'll be fine. Where is the work being carried out?

Never heard of that being a problem on the Cooper D! Maybe it was just a manufacturing anomaly?

it's in Leicester Sytner main dealer.all under warranty, just worried what else they'll damagewhilst they're pulling it about. They recognised it as a known problem, but the block they got in to replace it was also cracked so they had to get in another one!

Is this part of the legendary Peugeot build quality?

i know what you mean, i have two friends who had to have gearboxes and engines and drivetrain replaced over like their first year of owning it numerous times as everytime they engined out the car jsut went wrong in other areas and threw itself out of sync, i think there was alot of problems on the first r56 s's but i dont know about the deisels sorry

dont peugeot 207 gti's now use the cooepr s block as they had problems with it too? my mates show car had the same problem and i had to put him in contact with the mates with the faulty s's about it as they are same block, who owns it, mini or peugeot? if its french then maybe it explains the trouble? lol

annoys me though as i find my r53 is surprisingly reliable for a supposedly highly wound hot hatch, don't like mini giving it a bad name with the new ones problems they had
