Thumbs up Another Mini Newbie

Hi All

Am about to take ownership of my mid life crisi Mini Cooper R50 02 reg having just turned 40 last month. Completely standard and untouched (so far). Have not owned a Mini personally since late 80's when I had a 1965 Cooper, white with a black roof with red interior. Nice........ ah those were the days. Then had a 1980 black mini which was sadly written off.

Have been looking round for mods and decals etc so watch this space for photos of my progress in personalising her.

She is a lovely example in Burgundy with a white roof and mirror caps with standard 16in alloys.

Looking forward to joining in on the forum and maybe even some of the events. Am based in Gloucestershire so would love to hear from other Mini Nuts nearby.

Any suggestions for mods etc gratefully received.

Welcome to MCUK. Don't think that we have anybody in the Gloucester area yet, but I believe that Donna is the closest to you. The club are currently organising a trip over in Wales this year, so might be a good opportunity to meet up with some other MINI Nuts as you say.

I would suggest a play mini exhaust, but then I'm biased. It gives a subtle growl and isn't in any way chavvy. JCW sound kit is also good, but costs a lot for what it is.

Hey Everyone, thanks for the kind welcome.

Test drove the Cooper yesterday and am just waiting for the AA to do their inspection on it, if all is ok then by next weekend I should be the proud owner of a Mini Cooper again after a 20 year gap!!

Hey Lex, I know Brimscombe very well. Ask your dad if he knows Slad, thats where I live which is just the other side of Stroud to Brimscombe.

Am already checking out some Viper Stripes and Shark Gill windscreen vents and side repeater surrounds. Am going to get a bodyshop I know locally to get a price for the Aero Kit.

Happy days.......................

Have added a couple of photos of her below as she is right now. Would love some ideas of a name for her (silly Iknow but I name all my cars). First thing to decide is gender, then a name.

I love the colour, dont see many about like it.

Aero Kit is cool...I desperately want one but a forth coming wedding is getting in the way.

There is a place in Norwich, I can't remember the name but others on here will, they supply OEM Aero Kits for a really good price and they were my first point of call.

Hi Mr Cooper,

Thanks for that I will certainly have a mooch about.

Will start small first, bit of chrome here and there, then window tints, am considering a walnut dash kit as well but not sure how it would look. May go for the chequer one instead.

What tyres do people recommend for thr Mini?

Wow, very rare colour, looks great! I think the Aero kit will look very good. The place in Norwich is an eBay seller, users Mini Lisa and BoltonT got theirs from him. They're already painted but are only in the more common colours so you'd need to get it sprayed.
