Smile New Mini Owner Here...
Going to be picking up my Mini Cooper S next Tuesday (cant wait) and was wondering wether it is the 170bhp or 163bhp model. It was registered 28/07/04 and need help finding this out.

Hello and welcome to MCUK! Congrats on your new MINI, I bet you cannot wait to collect it.

Registered when it was makes it a '04 plate right? If that is the case it'd be a 163bhp as the 170bhp was from models '54-'06.

Most likely be 163bhp being 04 but saying that mine is an 04 reg and is the facelift 170 model!

Is the chrome trim around the front grill completely smooth or ridged? If smooth, it's a facelift and therefore 170bhp.

I believe it is the facelift model which will mean that it has 170bhp.

Facelift was released in July 2004 so yours could well be, my old JCW was a facelift built in July 04 but registered in September. Have seen a few 04 plate facelifts.
