Default Cooper S Clubman Full Dodo Detail by Andy & Paul

Hi everyone,

Here we have a nice 1 year old Cooper S Clubman in for a Full Correction Detail.

The car had the usual average Dealer prep and Eastern European car washes which has lead to flat paint and light to medium defects.

As the house had no hosepipe we had to wing it a bit and do quite a "hands on" wash. Firstly Paul went round the car with Megs APC (4:1) whilst i faffed about with my gear:

The car was then washed with Dodo Juice Sour Pour (hmm Apples!) via the 2 bucket method:

And dried with the leaf blower:

The next job was to tape up the trim and collect the depth readings. Now being an R56 the paint is considerably thinner than an R53. I believe MINI changed the paint process with the new shape which allowed the use of the new Ceramic Clear Coats. Now don't take that as gospel i may just be blowing out of my harris

The paint measuring between 85 and 115 microns and averaging 95 micons allowed us to use Menzerna 3.02 on polishing pads which removed between 2 and 3 mircons. As this is a new car the emphasis was placed on preserving as much of the clearcoat as possible.

Here is Paul machining the bonnet:

I worked my way round the rest of the car. On the passenger side there was evidence of previous machining:

The roof:

Corrected:

Reflections with no LSP:

After all painted parts were machined (including front and rear bumpers with spot pads) Paul worked round the car with Dodo Juice Lime Prime. We decided to apply via rotary to enhance the clarity of the paint.

Whilst Paul was Lime Priming, i got to work on the wheels and exhausts.

Wheels (yes my knuckles are cut to bits!):

I used Autosmart Smart Wheels to wash, Autosmart Tardis to break down the heavy tar and brake dust deposits, Sonus Grey clay to remove the excess and Chemical Guys Wheel Guard to seal. Megs Endurance Tyre Gel was used for the tyres.
I didn't get them exactly how i would have liked but the wheels wouild have needed to come off.

Passenger side Exhaust:

Drivers Side Exhaust (before and after):

I used Megs NXT Gen Metal Polysh with 00 grade wire wool for the exhausts.

With all of the ancillary parts detailed we removed the tape (lots of it!!!) and applied the wax...Dodo Juice Purple Haze.

Once the wax had cured we dressed the trim with Black Wow and wiped down the car with Zaino Z8 to remove all wax traces and add extra bling.

Paul sorted the interior by cleaning the trim with Megs APC (10:1), cleansing the leather with Gliptone Liquid Leather and protected the surfaces with Jeffs Werksatt Satin Prot.

Here are the afters...enjoy!

(I'm really annoyed at this picture as its the only one of the front interior i took!)

Now i want a Clubman!!!!

Comment and criticism welcome.

Thanks,

Andy & Paul

Great stuff as usual guys!

Are you able to remove the wheels to clean them when off the car or do you not have a torque wrench? May be the next step to get one so that they could come off to make it easier? It was something I was wanting to do but havent got round to it yet - probably need a couple of axle stands, jack and the wrench...??? May help avoid the cut knuckles which Im getting well used to know !

Great news on the contract too!

If only I had the money I would be getting you to come have a go at mine....

Nice work
