Default Mini Insured (Extended Warranty)

Sorry for the Totalmini thread

I'm just looking at extended warranty for the Mini (through Mini) - and was wondering what their stance is on modifications?

The website seems to be pretty vague giving a blanket 'no mods', but what I really want to know is if the engine is covered if the suspension is changed etc.

Any thoughts or experiences?

Cheers

Nik

Does the MINI still have to be within it's initial 3 year warranty before it can be extended?

Doesn't seem so, just a 100k mile limit on the Comprehensive policy

Can't comment about mini but the one I use won't cover a part if it affects an insured part. Eg, wanted a sport cat but they said the turbo would not be covered as the modification could affect it (according to them).

I looked into a mini warranty but it did not offer the cover offered by the original 3 year warranty. Unless things have changed, seemed like an insurance using the mini name.

Check the small print as I have found they can get out of fixing things if that physical part has not failed completely.

Interesting, thanks. Yeah, the Mini one seems to be provided by Mondial, but that also seems to be the case for the BMW one which seems quite highly rated

Does the warranty tie you to into servicing by MINI only?
