Question Accident Repair Recommendation Needed

I am after some good recommendations for a garage that will be able to complete the repairs to my mini. She rolled into a van and has not only body damage but engine damage too.

I know that there are plenty of garages who would be able to do the work, but I was wondering if there was one locally that specialised in/owned their own Minis.

I am in the Southampton area of Hampshire, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

Thanks

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. What sort of damage are you looking at? I assume from what you are saying that it will need to be trailered to a garage? I guess you don't want to put this through the insurance either then...

My insurance company have paid me a cheque to get the work done myself (they wanted to write-her-off because she's an old car, until I gently explained that classic cars do tend to be less than new!)

She starts-up o.k, so I would probably be able to drive her to a garage.

Her front grill is caved-in, all four lamps smashed, plus one head-light, the bonnet is rucked-up (but still opens and closes o.k).

Internally, there is a crack in the radiator, a chip in the alternator and a cracked pipe of some sort.

I have a few quotes, but I was hoping to find someone who knows and loves Minis to do the work.

It does really depend upon how far you want to travel. Two independent Mini garages of note are, 1320Mini (St Neots. Cambs) and ModnMini (Sittingbourne Kent). They both come highly recommended. 1320Mini break Minis too, so they may have the parts you need to fix yours.

It's a fair trek but RJM Body Repairs (see sponsors pages) come well recommended.

When you say old mini are you talking about an Austin Rover, what we would regard as a classic to an BMW this would help in sending you in the right direction

I certainly wouldn't ever refer to my 'classic' Mini Cooper as an "old" car, especially as being an ‘R’ reg. she is one of the youngest of the classic Minis, my insurance company however aren’t so inclined…an ‘R’ reg. to them is simply an ‘old’ car…

She is not a BMW …apologies if that wasn’t clear in my original post.
