Default Best MAnifolds for R53 and prices

Right looking at getting Manifold for MCS. Refuse to pay anything over £200 pounds and don't mind second hand bits. Does anyone know the best manifold to get? Price? and where I could get it from, also easy of fitting it myself?

Many thanks.

Chris

Imho, you won't get anything for that sort of money. Even second hand you'd be looking at least £300+. Janspeed are very good and well worth it. With cat these are now over £500... They can be picked up on MiniTorque or M2 classifieds for less

+1.

Janspeed is basically the one to go with IMO - JCM would be the ideal (IMHO probably better than the Janspeed) but its gains over the Janspeed isnt worth the extra cost, there are also fitting considerations with the JCM system.

If you get a 2nd hand Janspeed with cat for ~£300 you will be doing well... (oh just for info the JCM mani+cat brand new is ~£750 !!! If I had money to spare I would still get it though...but I dont lol)

I am looking at Janspeed also but as previously said you'd be lucky to pick anything up for as cheap as £200!

Be wary if you find anything on eBay that cheap that you know what it is. I do recall someone picking up an unknown brand mani on eBay cheaply and it turned out to be complete toilet!

I am not seriously looking at the moment as I can't really afford it until next year (after the wedding). 1320 are advertising £650 supplied and fitted for the Janspeed...

Is that with a de-cat or sports cat? Not a bad price fitted for a brand new Janpseed but expect that the decat is extra.
Janspeed was the one that I was really after myself but the Milltek became available at £300 including the hi-flow sports cat so couldn't turn it down. Very impressed with it TBH. My local mechanic who did all the engine mods on my 206 only charged me £40 to fit it too!!! woohoo He said it was alot easier than he thought it would be.

There's been a few OBX manifolds on eBay for £180 lately but I was doing abit of research about them on the interweb & didn't look too good..... air leaks, poorly fitting mount where it meets the head and also needs a cat or decat which involves some sort of welding from what I could see.
Personnaly Chris I would save up abit extra & try to get a 2nd hand Janspeed, Milltek or Mini Mania manifold

Fair enough Emily. Seen their price but am kinda hoping they can better it - it shouldnt take much longer than an hour to fit and Im wanting to find a mani for about the £400-£450 mark with cat... I will see what happens...

The minimaniamani has had problems with cracking so Ive been reliably informed so just need to check that out if its on your list too.

One other thing to remember no matter what mani you go for, you will need a new gasket where the mani bolts onto the head and another where the downpipe joins the cat or pipe depending which type you get...... these are dealer only parts!

But surprisingly for BMW when I bought mine the exhaust/head gasket was £4.48 and the downpipe/cat gasket was £3.79...... grand total including VAT was £9.51!!!

Even the salesman was shocked when I paid! LOL
