Default induction kits ?

Hi guys want to start modding me mini had it a year now and all ive dont is put stripes on it been looking at induction kits but just so many to choose from i like the look of the M7 one and also the new K&N apollo induction kit which seems to have the largest bhp increase according to dyno tests ive looked at. Well, i'm no expert and there certainly are others on here who would be better to advise but, from what I know after looking into it myself...MCS' suffer with heat soak from the engine and that the standard airfilter housing is one of the best in the business, couple that to a panel filter such as ITG or Pipercross and it should be comparable to anything on the market. The other option, which would def give power gains, is to go for the JCW induction system or the Alta system (with the cover).

I wouldn't really bother with other systems, with the additional exception of an M7 kit also.

You should get some pics of your car up, would be good to see them. Don't forget we've a raffle on at the mo coinciding with the Duxford run on the 16th - interested?

I popped the JCW box in my 2006 S for a few months before returning it back to stock (and selling). The other nice thing with this box is that it not only draws air in from the usual intake at the front of the engine bay, but at a higher rev range it opens a flap to draw air in from the vent just under the passenger windscreen so that the engine is no longer gasping for air.

Others of course may have their non MINI preferences.

I am thinking of selling my Alta V2 CAI fairly shortly...

Power gains are going to be minimal from pretty much all of the induction kits but as Chris mentioned you're best going for something sealed as the MCS are notoriously bad for heat soak. The good thing about them is that the make that s/charger SCREAM!

I'm sure that's where the phrase scream if you want to go faster comes from
