I have 18's on mine at mo, but was looking at some pics the other day with 17's on and thought it looked lower and chunkier. So am considering getting some lightweight 17's and selling the 18's

Excellent stuff - forgot about that... lol

I recon black will make your car look alot meaner!! But I just love the blue/black combo on minis...

Do it! changed mine at the weekend. more mpg, big handling improvement and better acceleration. Common knowledge that lightweight rims make a massive difference on minis.

Did you do any before and after performance tests? Would be interesting to have the extent of the change? i.e a 10th sec to 60???? Or is it more butt dyno?

not really bothered about 0-60. What is noticable is flooring it in gear, 3rd 4th 5th 6th... it just moves now. Felt fast with the 18's but you can defo feel the lack of initial inertia that the car has to over come.

They just spin up now. I guarantee if you change your R95's you will love your car even more. Those R95's are 10.7kg and a dunlop 205/40 runflat is 10kg.

So thats 20kg of rotating lard. If you can get this down to 15kg the 5kg saving is equivalent of lopping off 10kg of your car. So the equivalent of 40kg off the total kerb weight.

The fact that rotating mass is reduced means better handling... combine that with your recently fitted JCW Suspension kit, you will be unbeatable.

Stop tempting me!!!! lol

Thanks for the info, interesting stuff... I think I should have starting thinking about weight saving earlier- aero kit weights more than S bumpers, air con, jcw seats.... I think I will give it more grunt instead!!

Good to know though, as it does give another option...

you will go faster with 17's as you can put down the power a lot better. my dsc does not cut in now and you can keep your foot in round the bends.

only thing is as I am running 205/40 profile, I think I am 20mm lower than before than with my 18's with 30mm decrease in rolling radius.

Do have to be a bit more careful on speedbumps but does feel more like a go kart now.
