Default Macmillan Charity Donation

Hi all,

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the Past Events section with the rest of the Duxford stuff as I was worried it would get lost. Anyway, thought we should all see and be proud of this - well done everyone!

That is bloody amazing, what a fantastic result, just shows what we can do with a little effort, I wouldn't mind doing something like this on a regular basis, a yearly Charity Run and we could share the proceed arround. What say you all?

Thanks to everyone that took part, the people that sponsored us and our sponsors who provided such super prizes.

I hope you mean share the proceeds around different charities John?! We don't want people getting the wrong idea and compare us to somebody else!

Yearly charity run sounds like a good idea though, as the duxford one was obviously a big success!

After being open for 4 months, our JustGiving charity page closed a couple of days ago. They have sent the following email in addition to the letters to Chris a couple of months ago...

May we begin by congratulating you for completing the MCUK Charity Club Run Braintree to Duxford. Your fantastic achievement has also raised £284.55(including Gift Aid) for Macmillan Cancer Support through the Just Giving Website. It is with the support of people like you that we can improve the lives of more and more people affected by cancer.

Macmillan provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support and we push for better cancer care. It’s not only patients who live with cancer, we also help carers, families and communities; providing practical support, such as precious time off for a carer, or a simple lift to a hospital. We guide people through the system, fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres.

We share information and give emotional support, though our CancerLine, website, support groups and trained professionals. Our Macmillan Grant and benefits advice help people cope with the financial impact cancer can have. We are also a force for change, listening to people affected by cancer and working together to fight inequality and improve cancer care. We believe everyone with cancer should receive the same level of care regardless of whom they are and where they live.

We can’t do any of this without your support. You have helped change lives.

Once again, please accept our warmest thanks for your valuable support.

Yours sincerely

a yearly chairty day would be a good idea,Duxford was a fantastic day out as it raises money for a good cause. My sister in law in terminal with cancer and is now having macmillan support, you realize how important it is when its close to home,as she is only 45,another good cause would be the special care baby unit,as we found first hand with Daniel who was born 8 weeks early,he was looked after really well and is now 10 years old.Its good raising money for chairty as it benefits so many people.ian.
