The total has increased by another £10 today thanks to another donation through our justgiving page - I will keep updating the total in post one.

Thanks again everyone

Another £20 and £5 donated today.

I am now badgering suppliers that phone - they seem to have an opening line of 'Did you have a good weekend?' which opens up the whole MINI run and charity conversation

So when are we going to draw the line to the fundraising frenzy?

I sent out the Just Giving Link on Saturday, so I'd like it to remain open a bit longer, had 2 responses already, so fingers crossed for some more!

Hi all,

I emailed MacMillan today to get the details on making the payment to them following the Duxford fundraising frenzy, thought you'd all like to see their reply - it's quite nice...

Hi Chris,

We’ve been expecting to hear from you, as we’ve been reading all about how successful your run was in the fantastic press coverage you obtained in the EADT. Since you last contacted us, Jenni Augusta has sadly left us. We are currently recruiting for a replacement. In the meantime, your fundraising contact at this office will be our Fundraising Manager, Lorna Willis (lwillis@macmillan.org.uk)

As regards sending us the money you have raised, we would be very grateful if you could make a cheque payable to ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’ and send it to:

Macmillan Cancer Support
10 Wharfside House
Prentice Road
Stowmarket
Suffolk
IP14 1RD

Once we have received it, we will be very happy to send you a receipt and a certificate. Also, would it be possible for you to send us a link to the Just Giving page you set up for your event? Thank you.

As for Gift Aid, this will automatically claimed from all the eligible donors who have donated via your Just Giving page. However, we are generally unable to claim Gift Aid on money that is collected at events from the general public in collection tins or buckets. This is because in order to claim it, we would need to know the precise amount each person donated, and we would need a signed gift aid declaration and full name and address from each and every one of them. Obviously, in practise this simply isn’t really feasible for public collections.

Also, we cannot claim Gift Aid on registration fees / entry fees for an event – only on any sponsorship money that event participants raise from eligible sponsors. This is because, technically speaking, a registration fee/entry fee isn’t classed as being a donation, but as being a purchase, and Gift Aid can only be claimed on charitable donations. I hope that all makes sense – the rules are a little labyrinthine to say the least!

Once again, thank you so much for all your hard work in organising this great event for us. We really do appreciate it! Should you have any further queries, do feel free to give us a call on 01449 770409, and we will do our very best to help.

Ps. Just to let you all know, i'm looking to collect the cheque for the funds raised on the day from Emily during our club meet on the 5th June. Once i've got this, I'll be posting it off to MacMillan. Once I've got the receipt and certificate, i'll get them scanned and posted up on the forum.

That's excellent news Chris. I see we've had another £15 donated whilst I was away (first post updated)
