Since you last contacted us, Jenni Augusta has sadly left us. We are currently recruiting for a replacement. As for Gift Aid, this will automatically claimed from all the eligible donors who have donated via your Just Giving page. However, we are generally unable to claim Gift Aid on money that is collected at events from the general public in collection tins or buckets. This is because in order to claim it, we would need to know the precise amount each person donated, and we would need a signed gift aid declaration and full name and address from each and every one of them. Obviously, in practise this simply isn’t really feasible for public collections.

Also, we cannot claim Gift Aid on registration fees / entry fees for an event – only on any sponsorship money that event participants raise from eligible sponsors. This is because, technically speaking, a registration fee/entry fee isn’t classed as being a donation, but as being a purchase, and Gift Aid can only be claimed on charitable donations. I hope that all makes sense – the rules are a little labyrinthine to say the least!
