Hi All,

Its time for a brake fluid change service early next month. I currently have dot 5.1 brake fluid from GT Tuning which I got as part of the spriroslot brake upgrade. Now obviously when BMW do the change they are going to put the regular stuff back in.

My questions are: Is there a problem mixing fluids? (Although I kinda presume that no mixing will actually occur as they are draining all the old fluid and replacing with the new stuff?)

Should I look to put dot 5.1. in again? Will BMW provide an upgraded brake fluid if I ask them to? I.e. Put in some dot 5.1 please and I will pay the extra for the better fluid.

If you think I should stay with 5.1, which sort do you recommend? Is all 5.1 the same? Could I just pick some up from Halfords or such store and it will be just as good as any other?

Back in the fold... but being tempted out again...

If you take the car on track then dot 5.1 is worth it if not then BMW stuff will do the job fine for your car on the road.
