Default Headlight Bulb Advice

Ok guys n girls I need your help please, could you advice me on what type of headlight bulbs for a Mini One 2002 model, I have come across PLASMA,XENON,HALOGEN,OSRAM from what I can gather it is an H7 fitment but I am faced with a 55w or 100w. I have herd of bulbs melting the plastics with the headlight due to the wrong bulbs being fitted. So as you can imagine this is the last thing I want.

Question is which bulb do I get and what wattage is needed

Thanks for your help

Hi Mark,

It will most likely be a 55w H7 bulb fitted in the MINI (back on your owners manual) - I believe that the 100w are not road legal in the EU. Also it will be a halogen bulb, Osram is going to be the manufacturer. Normally they come in packs of two around the £15 mark from Halfrauds.

If you have Xenon bulbs you will have all sorts of danger high voltage stickers on the back of the lamp unit, and there will be two washer bottled under the bonnet, one for the headlights and one for the windscreen. Also the bulb would be well over £100!!!

Hopefully that'll get you sorted out

If you want to up-rate the bulbs you could look at something like these:-

NEW Osram Night Breaker PLUS H7 +90% 12v 55w + Free 501 Extreme White Sidelights

Well after the lights getting dimmer then brighter I said thats enough back to Mini so off we went booked it in to pick it up later that day! So after 8 hrs looking around Norwich off we went back to Mini only to find out the Alternator is busted big time. They charged up the battery as the part should be with them that week so we took the car and drove home with brighter lights, this was 3 weeks ago! The part is due in from Germany at some point in Feb in the mean time Mini are taking Rita's car back as it is not safe to drive at night a head torch is brighter than her lights and the only real way to see is by driving with the fogs on all the time which is draining the battery even more. So BMW are lending us a car but what sort of car we will have no idea! So with luck we may just get our Mini back in the middle of Feb fingers crossed.
