Hi all, just checked oil level and it's just under the minimum mark on the dipstick. Checked the handbook but it doesn't say which viscosity oil oil to use so wondered if anyone could tell me please? Min Cooper, 2003

Just checked the Castrol website and they suggest 5/30 fully synth so will go for that!

Why 5-40? Handbook says a load of stuff about extensive research into the best oil etc and everyone recommends 5/30.

My last car was a 3.0 turbo diesel Isuzu Trooper which ran on 5/30 and if any other oil went in the injectors wouldn't function correctly and caused all sorts of trouble.

Not lecturing by the way, just wondered why
