Default drivers seat

Hi all, had our 2003 Cooper for a couple of weeks and loving it! One niggle is the drivers seat - the lever on the right hand side (door side) when operated, the back of the seat titls forwards but the seat doesn't slide forwards like the passenger seat. The dealer we got it from said that is correct but it doesn't make sense to me.

Should the seat then slide forwards as well as tilt forwards?

Thanks in advance..

They should both tilt and slide forward.

I thought so, off to have a battle with the garage then. Thanks alot!

Also, off subject, but I see there are different R numbers that I guess identify the variants - what would mine be?

Your car is an r50.

Take a look at the following link.

Good link that, Sef

Just be warned that there are a few places cheaper than MiniGenuineParts.co.uk if you want to buy anything... your local dealer is usually one of them

Hi all, car been to dealer today and they say that a previous owner must have taken a runner off for some reason. They aren't prepared to pay for the part which costs about £100 so have left the ball in my court. Thinking ebay for a part but does anyone know what the part might be that I need? Basicaaly the drivers seat doesn't slide forwards when the lever is depressed to let passengers in the back. You can slide the seat back and forth with the lever under fron of seat though.....

Thanks in advance

Just found one from a 2005 mini - will this fit mine on a 2003?

Use the link below and put your details in it: -

RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog

Find the part for your car and see if its the same part number as the one that you found on e-bay.

thanks for the link chap. Can't see the bit I need though. I'll take the seat out at the weekend and identify it the mechanical way!

I guess the seat runners will be the same on a 2003 and 2005 min?

I don't believe the story about a runner being taken off. I don't think they know what they are talking about...
