Default Got me new Cooper today but......

noticed a couple of niggles. The passenger door won't unlock with the central locking - it does lock though - is this an easy fix? Also the plate under the rear end of the exhaust seems to have rusted through and has been painted sliver but looks really tatty. Is this a part of the exhaust or a bolt on part?

Will add some pics when I work out how....

Hiya, is it new, new?

If so on R56 models there are a number of options that you can programme to the individual keys!

Take a look at http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do enter your vehicles VIN (last 7 digits) and you be able to check out the panel that you are talking about.

Cancel what I said about the R56 and programming of keys; just noticed that you've got a Gen 1 Cooper. Someone on here will probably have an idea.

The URL i attached will however be OK to use

Have u tried the clarkson aproach
To do this all you need is fist of butter and a hammer lol
But it's more likely just something has come loose in the locking mechanism Should not be too hard

Had the door lock problem on Lisa's cooper. If the door does not unlock by the remote button or the lock button on the dash, it might be same issue we had.

It needed a door lock mechanism replacing which was a pain to do but not too difficult. Part no 1 on the diagram on the link below is the part I replaced:

It's probably been programmed to press once to unlock just the drivers door, and press it again to unlock everything I believe it was a dealer programmed option on the R53.

Just been down to the dealer and booked it in for them to do snags next week! The sunroof seems to be juddering when closing so they can sort that out too....
Great fun to dirve though and apart from the minor snagging i'm dead chuffed with it.
How do i post pics?
