Unfortunately your age is really against you and the SP30 will not help. You may receive some benefit from the recent ruling that means that Women are not treated differently to Men, however your quotes will probably not come down until you are 25/26.

The other issue is that declared modifications will also cost more as they effectively put the vehicle into a higher Insurance group i.e. A chipped One will be looked at as a Cooper or maybe higher.

Omelio, I didn't get a Cooper S until I was 24 as the insurance was stupid! When I reached the magic age of 25 it dropped dramatically. You may do best to wait a little while, build up you NCB...

Try Endsleigh, I was insured with them on my S at 20 for a reasonable amount (£1800). Have you tried Adrian Flux with club discount?

I was going to say the same as Nik, have you tried Adrian Flux? They are probably the best people I would recommend. With regards to the change to premiums being charged for Men and Women, this isn't due to be legislation until December 2012. You may find some insurance companies will change ahead of time, but with this only just having been announced it does take a while for us Insurance companies to change the way things are done. There are a lot of proceedures and changes in admin internally that will need take place before the saving can be given to the paying public.

From what I hear women's insurance is due to rise and mens are due to fall, so that they can meet somewhere in the middle.

I think that the Co-op insurance used to be good for modding cars, I think that they used to allow you to do any external modifications and it wouldn't affect the premium - I could have that wrong though.

Ouch !! £4k !!? I wouldnt pay any more than £1k on car insurance, its jsut a waste IMHO...

Perhaps try putting your mum or someone old on the policy as a named driver - that could bring your premium down plus they could drive the car and pick you up from a night out or in an emergency = win win

Just so long as you dont just do ^ that other way round (i.e. you as named driver on your mums policy for the car) as thats fraud....

Hate to pee you off, but my insurance for my cooper s is currently well under £500...that would be due to my age though
