Default Problem - Any Ideas?

Anyone got ideas what this could be?

Coming home from dropping the Jag off today and noticed that whilst Holly was driving there was a weird 'knock' coming from the front end, it wasn't regular but occured mainly if you hit a bump/hole or turned round a tight bend.

I took it out when I got home. Brakes are ok, wheels are on and tight, there is no movement in the wheels (thinking it was lose wheel nuts or worn bearings). Handles ok but then noticed that if you chuck the car from side-to-side, as you changed direction the 'knock' occured.

Wonder if it was something to do with the suspension and the fitting of the spings - ideas anyone?

kind of, mostly when turning though. just seems odd that its happened in relation to the springs going on. Are the top mounts expensive to replace?

On the classic minis knocking on lock (normally full lock) would point to worn CV Joints, this would be more like a clicking sound though. Not sure on the new mini though Chris, also your car is low mileage so unless the boot that covered the joint has split I wouldn't have expected something like that to fail yet.

I had this problem when I had my springs put on. It was was the lower ball joints because of the pressure load put on them. Hope this helps Chris.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! Roughly how much to replace the wishbone bushes?

It's going into where the Springs were fitted tomorrow evening to be investigated on Wednesday. Just seems all very weird that's its happened after only doing a couple of hundred miles on the new springs. Very strange.

I'll keep you posted.

Had to get a new filter from MINI today after having to take the Dave.F off temporarily. They even suggested that the new springs may not be seated correctly??

Car's now in with Paul Roach who's the Jaguar Specialist who fitted them. They could feel the problem after 100 yards on a test drive. Got it up on the ramps and all the bushes and bearings looked and felt ok...the investigation continues.
