Default Time to get started...

Hi all,

Thanks to my Grandmother, i've got some pennies to spend on mods.

I'm contemplating a KMT reduction pulley but what to go for? 11% or 15%? The limiting factor is the I/C as i'll be forced (through finances) to run with the OEM part until sometime next year. I fear the 15% would be too much but the 11% would be ok for the driving I do.

Once I can afford a GRS I/C, I'll be uprating the pulley to a 15% or 17%.

General thoughts? 11% with standard I/C - would this be suitable?

Also, what costs are involved in fitting one of these at 1320?

It's 350 quid for a proper set up and when I spoke to them they said that a 15% would be fine on the standard ic also it's coming up to winter so it will be cold again which should help
Before u book up to have it done give me a bell cause I want to get mine done and I have no idea how to get there

11% is fine for standard IC matey. 15% would probably be fine under most driving conditions too - its only if its hot and your going for it that it may get any issues on the 15%+OEM IC...

Fisher does a deal on a single 'inner' with 2 'outers' which if yo ugo for will save you money. The deal is basically you get 2 different size reduction pullies for cheaper than if you bought them seperately. SO you could get the 11% outer (for peace of mind untill you can get the IC) and a 17% outer (for when the new IC is available).

You may even be able to sell on the outer you dont need at the appropriate time - i.e. after the GRS is on and you dont want/need the 11% someone is bound to buy it...

As sleety says its going to be winter soon(ish) so that will help with the IATs on the 15% too...

Can you save a little longer for the IC then get a 16% fitted at the same time ?? 16% seems to be the best compromise from what I read into when deciding if I was going to change from my 11%.... thats in terms of IATs, boost, SC efficiency and SC wear etc etc...

Chris, I ran a 17% for a few months on a standard IC and that included some runs at the Pod! I would say for ordinary driving it will be fine. Only if you were racing around a track would you notice the reduction in performance.
