Default just picked up my cooper S and have some issues lol

hey folks , i just got my cooper S today its an R53 2003 with 44,000mls

ok electrical issues , i have the tape deck with autochanger in boot , when the CD is playing all of a sudden it will switch to radio or when i go over a bump ect , however its not just that when the CD cuts off the A/C light doesnt light up so no A/C the window demister light doesnt work and the odometre dims so you can hardly see it , also when indicating the indicators are working but the turn signals on the dashboard doesnt light up.... or with hazzards lights ect but the indicators are actually flashing

all these issue are linked cos when the CD is playing fine the A/C is working as its light is on so is the window demister is working and the odometre is nice and bright as it should be , and the indicators and turn signals are working as should be .

anyone know how to fix this before i take it to garage

thanks G Unit

Hello G Unit, welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you've got a few issues there! Certainly does seem as though the CD Changer is the common denominator in all of this, saying that, have you tried disconnecting from the cars harness completely? It should just be a plug-in-connector down behind the changer.

These just plugged into the main loom so, it would be wise to check for any 'dodgy' installations at that time.

I reckon this would be a good start.

Something I remember way way back in the past (2005 perhaps) was a MINI owner that had water getting into one of the fuse / ecu boxes under the bonnet causing all sorts of strange issues.

Pop the bonnet and take a look under some of the plastic flaps with a torch and see if you can see any water in any of them. It could be that they pressure washed the engine bay as part of getting it ready to sell and water has crept in somewhere it shouldn't.

Did you pick it up from a garage or private sale?

Hope you manage to get it sorted, let us know how you get on.

it from a used car garage engine is fairly clean so that could be the issue on another forum someone mentioned the BC1 unit?? controls electrics on dash???

the fault is intermitting as everything will work as it should for a couple of minutes then go weird again

when its weird the alarm doesnt even lock doors lol
