Exclamation Continuing gearbox trouble

Im still having trouble with my gearbox when pulling away sometimes its judders and also sometimes at high revs (from 4k rpm onwards) the clutch seems to slip and revs with no drive???

I had the clutch replaced 4months ago due to this problem but am still getting trouble but it doesnt happen a the time??

The garage that replaced clutch are not being much help but say after inquires they say its the crown plate that is gettin to hot and expanding causing the slipping???? The crown plate is heat sealed into box at factory, surely if this would have to be mega hot to come from its mounting and if it was that hot the gearbox would seize before?????

Am i being ripped off or has anyone had this before??? Could it be something else like flywheel or poor work carried out before when replacing clutch??

what they described wouldnt cause clutch slip more grinding and clunking! Does the clutch stink when it slips ?? they could have fit it incorectly or used a cheap clutch kit and if your mini is tuned it will rip it apart unless LUK etc. clutch judder can be caused by a warped flywheel or pressure plate due to clutch overheating! get a second opinion

You should still be covered by warranty... Did they change the fly wheel as well?

Where abouts are you from Jon? If in the East Anglian / South East region, I would recommend a visit to either 1320 Autos or Mod'n'Mini.

hi guys,
im from west midlands sadly, miles away from those places.

The clutch does smell when this happens,i dont understand why it only happens on occasions??? Even when it hasnt the car often has a strange burning smell when getting out of car after driving???
The only engine mod is induction kit so its not massive bhp.
The garage did not repalce fly wheel, just clutch and clutch kit aparently.

No the clutch pedal itself feels fine and doesnt stick etc. Garage today said again it could b crown plate if not i need a new gearbox!!!! Im not happy at all with the garage but as they have already taken the gearbox out once i dont wana have to pay 5hours labour at another garage to take it out again.
