As highlighted a misfire a few months ago with ref to the engine management light and traction control light popping up. Bex brother has currently checked the spark plugs, injectors and changed the coil pack, leads and the crankshaft sensor but to no avail. I've also checked all engine wiring including all ABS sensors, still nothing found!! Apart from the fact that it is only missing on Cyl 2.
Then he inspected the cam with the help of a make-up mirror and found this on Cyl 1's lobes. ![]() His next port of call was to check engine compressions and this highlighted a problem. Cyl 1 - 6 bar Cyl 2 - 0 bar ( yes zero ) Cyl 3 - 5 bar Cyl 4 - 7 bar With this info today he pulled the head off today to find this........ ![]() at a first glance it looks like alls ok, but then you look a little closer......... ![]() One of the exhaust valves has a small crack in it and by the looks of it is on its way to breaking up......... hence the lack of compression and miss-fire. New valves me thinks, all 16 of them!!! |

Helped a friend diagnose something similar on a Smart car - no compression in Cylinder 1, whilst Cylinder 2 shot a flame out the top and destroyed the compression tester
