I have the H/k system in my JCW. Very impressed with it. I also fitted the Genuine mini ipod wire and it works fine

have to agree, h/k is the bomb. look around in scrappers, i have picked up 2 lots of headunit, changer, amp, speakers for £100 and £120 in the past, one with and one without loom.

Went on to sell them for more cash just for parts, but you get the jist that the bargains are to be had. Speakers are solid and are not really pushed by the amp, so no worries about them being blown etc.

Go it fitted at the weekend Even just the grill covers look so much better than the standard ones... Took about 5 hours to install on saturday but its defo worth it - the sound is soo much better and the system actually has some bass now !! Rather happy with it TBH

I have got HK and iPod in my first gen. It's awesome, the sound quality is first class. It isn't a cheap system but it certainly provides a superior sound over the standard. It depends on what you want though, nice sounding music or blaring bass to rock up at Southend with! If it is the latter than I'd suggest something else!

From memory there is no issue with iPod and HK. The iPod link goes into the CD auto changer hole in the back of the head unit. However, if you changed the head unit to aftermarket and kept the HK speakers then you would need an adaptor. I think I may have had to buy an adaptor to get it to all work through my MFSW but it will work okay without. I did all of mine through New Mini Stuff so may be worth looking at the site to see what additional kit (if any) is required.
