Default Can't decide...

Alta V2 CAI, JCW or Hybrid...

Love the sound of the Alta, don't like the cost of a new one, same with the JCW but what is the Hybrid (as per MiniTorque) like?

Sef, when are you getting your hybrid fitted? If you don't mind, i'll have to come and have a listen one day.

Any thoughts / advice?

Heart is pretty much set on an Alta but still open for suggestions?

Well, the CAI which has shown the best performance is the dave.f hybrid with the JCW a (very) close 2nd. The alta I dont know much about TBH but a close air box is the best design for the mini imo...

You may need to get in there quick for the dave.f CAI as Im not sure if there are any left...???

If you manage to get a JCW air box then take the flap out and put an ITG filter in - that will give you some more whine!!

I think Ive seen somewhere that there is a special offer for a JCW CAI and JCW injectors - you may be able to sell the injectors if you dont want them and recover some of the costs of the JCW air box???

... the choice.. is yours... lol

This...

totalMINI.com JCW Box & Injector Offer (Derek Woodman)

Last of the dave.f Hybrid Airboxes

Hope that helps!

I got the Dave.F Hybrid on and love it! Havent tried any others though so can't compare but for the money it's awesome and very close in comparison with the JCW looking at the results...

I'll be picking up my replacement panel from Coopers today so I should have the hybrid fitted before the weekend is out... As others have said the hybrid out performs the JCW CAI (just). Any CAI that is open to the elements will lose you power due to the heat soak. If you have an Alta kit make sure you have a lid too...

The Alta totally does it for me. Perhaps see if you can hear the difference between the CAI's.

Performance wise I do not think there is a great deal to be gained from it. If your looking for power the money is better spent on a pulley. Just look for something enclosed to ensure you don't lose performance from heat soak.
