Default Burning??

(also put this up on mini2)

Hey everyone,

Past few weeks my car has started to squeek like an old volvo when i start the engine and also when i change into a higher gear, it only does it for a few seconds while the revs are low so im off to see john at modnmini on wednesday to hopefully get that sorted
However the MAJOR worry i have is in the same time as the squeek, im starting to smell a rather alarming wiff of burning Iv also told john about it so he can have a look but im baffled as to what it is. Iv had a oil change a few months ago and iv checked if its running low but its fine so i dno what it could be? It starts to smell of burning if i go above 3 or 4 thousand revs. Its a 2003 Mini ONE with a bluefin superchip so im wondering could that be a cause of it?

Anyone know what this smell could be??

What sort of burning smell is it? Electrical or oil? Could be some oil dripping on the hot manifold...

Cool, cheers fella. I had a reply on mini2 saying it might have been the clutch slipping which would of given it that burning smell but iv just tested it with the handbrake on and trying to pull away and it was fine, car was trying to pull away so i have no idea... hopefully john will find out when i go on wednesday. Il post up when and if he finds out, fingers crossed

john had a look at the car and guess what... Car didn't burn so he could tell me what it was! :@ always happens when there is something wrong with my car lol he did however find some oil on the manifold but said if I was that it would be constant insead of jus when I get to 3 or 4 thousand revs. So still not sure what the smell is,hopefully it will sort it self out as it will only burn when a machanic is not around still any suggestions welcome thanks for the advice and thoughts people
