You can use either run flats or normal tyres on MINIs, it doesn't affect warranty. Some tyre sizes aren't the same on standard tyres as they are on run flats so you need to make sure that the tyres are compatible with your wheel rims. When you use standard tyres you legally need to keep some tyre foam in the boot to repair any punctured tyres at the roadside.

The flat tyre indicator works on the wheel speed so you need to make sure that the pressures are all similar wheel to wheel, front to back.

You'll need to inform your Insurance Company too... As changing to non 'standard' tyres is a modification... (Doesn't usually cost anything... Just noted on your file)

The only other thing is the MINI has no spare tyre. MINI normally supply cars without run flats with a can of tyre weld and a little compressor which sat behind a flap in the left hand side of the boot.

However, if this stuff is used in a tyre it often means a puncture cannot be repaired and a new one has to be purchased.

I have used the tyre weld on my old lotus elise - it worked a treat, couldn't believe how effective it was. Then when I had the chance I the the puncture repaired - no mention that it should not be done???
