Default Giving Carbon Skinning a go

Well you know how much I like the Carbon so I having been giving it some thought about skinning my own bits (also due to the dollar and euro rates being pants), so after reading up on how to do it, I have taken the plunge!

I'll update this as I go but Im starting with some external pieces so I'll see how I get on ... wish me luck!

My plans are to do most of the car but Im starting with A Pillars inside and out
Headlamp Rings and Door Card rings

Just a quick update ...

Managed to get the hang of it but wasnt 100% happy with my first attempts so have just been trying to perfect the process and I have managed to get the idea now. The approx time for some of the small bits its roughly about 2-3hrs in labour but the drying time is where the hours mount up for example the drying of the resin is roughly 3hrs!!

But on the plus side I have managed to do the MFSW inserts (all three) and the headlamp rings and Im pretty impressed with them.

I can see why this stuff is expensive but not when I have seen the prices one vendor is charging for the same items as im doing.

Looking forward to seeing the results you have achieved. I have a couple of carbon parts suppliers. Prices vary abit too.

Hopefully the photos are ok (actually the quality is pants!!) but as always seeing them in the flesh is so much better!! Im just rubbing the laquer down again on one of them as I wasnt 100% happy and then they will all be finished! Im really happy with them.

I'll get some of the during photos loaded aswell when I get a min. Also once the headlamp rings are done I'll have some of those fitted to give you a chance to see them.

Oh and excuse the cow-print

The two finished pieces (bottom piece and right hand MF piece)

Another bottom piece in the process of being covered and the other MFSW piece
