You are correct Ayde, however unlike the old days when I was a lad, discs are much thinner and lighter due to the use of ventilated discs so wear tolerances are much tighter so having to change both the discs and pads at the same time isn't unheard of. Also pads used to be made from nice environmentally friendly materials like asbestos which wasn't so harsh on the discs, it just made you extremely ill and is potentially fatal if you breathe it in!
